A wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities are available throughout the Arnold area, thanks especially to its location along the banks of the Meramec River. The Arnold City Parks and Recreation Department oversees several parks covering almost 400 acres in the community. It is at these parks that people can find playgrounds, picnic shelters, tennis courts, swimming pools, ball fields and more. What’s more, Arnold City Park houses the city’s, and the county’s, first dog park—Paw Park; Flamm City Park offers access to the river for a day of fishing; and Ferd B. Lang Park is the site of a new skateboard park. The 118-acre Strawberry Creek Nature Area is an excellent place to view local flora and fauna, as it encompasses a pond and four walking trails. Also located in the area is Teszars Woods, a 90-acre nature area offering several trails. And in addition to all this is the Greenway Project, an excellent recreational initiative that will add hiking trails and easy access to the Meramec River.
The 55,000-square-foot Arnold Recreation Center is a modern facility featuring two full court gymnasiums, an indoor leisure pool, an outdoor water park, a fitness area, an indoor running track and ample space for a variety of further uses.
In addition, golfers take advantage of the well-manicured greens at Arnold’s Pomme Creek Golf Course. This 18-hole, Gary Kern-designed course opened in 1992 and features 5,500 yards of play from the longest tee.
