The City’s Parks & Recreation Department manages various facilities and recreation areas in Brentwood, and organizes a number of community events throughout the year as well. The department also partners with the Cities of Maplewood and Richmond Heights in what is known as the Parks and Recreation Cooperative (PARC). The program invites residents to take advantage of the recreational facilities and programming between the three cities.
The City of Brentwood oversees seven well- maintained parks in the community. Broughton Park and Rogers Parkway are among the smaller parks here, while Oak Tree Park offers eight acres of peaceful open space ideal for playing catch, Frisbee or just relaxing under the shade of its trees. Area schools and organizations travel to Norm West Park for soccer practice and games, while sand volleyball and tennis players enjoy leagues and lessons at Hanley Park. Brentwood Park is equipped with several athletic fields for baseball, softball and soccer, and is the home of Brentwood Eagles baseball, as well as the widely popular summer concert series and the Annual Brentwood Days Festival. The largest of the parks is the 15.5-acre Memorial Park, which offers opportunities for picnicking, hiking/walking, in-line skating at its rink and fun on the playground. In recent years, the City invested in the new Rosalie Trail, which travels between Rosalie and Black Creek and connects Memorial Park with Oak Tree Park. All seven of these parks are connected by asphalt biking and walking trails or sidewalks.
In addition to the resources available through the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, Brentwood residents are served by the private Brentwood Swim and Tennis Club and the Mid-County Family YMCA. The private Brentwood Swim and Tennis Club offers a competitive swim team in the summertime and also sponsors several social events for members. The YMCA facility houses an indoor pool, full-size gymnasium, an indoor track, a fitness center, racquetball and gymnastics centers, and multipurpose rooms. Members utilize the Y’s fitness classes, summer camps, aquatic classes and family- centered events, which span the calendar year.
