Outstanding Educational Opportunities

The Creve Coeur and Olivette area has a long-standing reputation for providing outstanding private, parochial and public educational opportunities. Served by three public school systems, Parkway, Pattonville and Ladue, as well as more than 30 private and parochial schools, area residents have access to some of the finest educational facilities in the country.

The Parkway School District serves the majority of Creve Coeur and is one of the largest in the region with a total enrollment of more than 20,000 students in 18 elementary, five middle and five high schools. Parkway is “Accredited with Distinction” by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education through 2005. This is the highest rating a school district can achieve on the state review conducted every five years. Parkway has also earned a “Distinction in Performance” rating on its Annual Performance Reviews since 2001.

The Pattonville School District serves the northeast portion of Creve Coeur with an enrollment of 7,000 students.

The Ladue School District serves the city of Olivette and the eastern part of Creve Coeur, with one early childhood center, four elementary, one middle school and one senior high school, with a total enrollment of over 3,300 students. The high school offers an expanded curriculum and has the honor of more National Merit Semi Finalists than any other public school in the state.

Many of the finest private and parochial high schools can be found in the community, including Academy of the Visitation, Chaminade College Preparatory School, St. Louis Priory, Villa Duchesne, Westminster Christian Academy, Christian Brothers College and Whitfield.

On a 55-acre campus, Chaminade College Preparatory School, with an enrollment of 800 students in the middle and high school, is an independent Catholic school sponsored by the society of St. Mary, which offers advanced placement courses.

Westminster Christian Academy boasts an enrollment of 625 students, grades seven through twelve, on a 30-acre campus. Founded in 1976, the school offers a comprehensive program of college preparatory classes, which focus on Biblical studies, English, fine arts, foreign language, history, mathematics, practical arts, the sciences and physical education.

Logos School in Olivette is a nationally recognized private institution in a niche market for helping individuals who have failed in the traditional setting. A professional staff to student ratio of one-to-three is maintained at all times, with individualized instruction for the adolescent, augmented with therapeutic counseling.

Hope Montessori Academy and Andrews Academy, an employer-sponsored comprehensive education center, serves area youngsters between the ages of two and six years, by providing a kinesthetic learning environment in which they can make their own discoveries about the world around them, thus allowing the children to develop self confidence and motivation while they progress at their own pace.

Andrews Academy continues the educational program on campus by offering classes to children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The Hope Montessori campus also contains programming for children from six weeks to 36 months of age, and the area also has other various preschool and childcare options.

With the proven academic records, premier curriculum and stellar athletics programs offered by area schools, it is easy to see why the area has produced such noteworthy alumni as Stone Phillips and Lou Brock.

The choice to pursue higher education is made easier given the location and easy access to a number of colleges and universities.

St. Louis Community College has three campuses with one located only minutes south of Creve Coeur and Olivette. With an enrollment averaging around 14,000, the two-year institution awards associate degrees and provides career oriented technical training. On the 78-acre campus, students can focus on a variety of programs such as business administration, communication arts, fine arts, or complete career training in fields such as architectural technology, horticulture, and occupational and physical therapy assistance. Additionally, 9,000 students attend non-credit continuing education programming.

Covenant Theological Seminary in Creve Coeur, the national seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America, serves over 1,000 students each year and is ranked the 12th largest seminary in North America. Its primary focus is training pastors through the Master of Divinity program. Other degree programs include Doctor of Ministry, Master of Arts and Master of Arts in Counseling.

Just west of Creve Coeur is Maryville University, with an enrollment of approximately 13,000. Missouri Baptist College has an enrollment of 2,400. St. Louis University, about 10 miles east of Olivette, has an enrollment of 11,000. Washington University, founded in 1853, is one of America’s finest research universities, with 10 percent of its students drawn from more than 100 countries around the world.

Other nearby higher education institutions include Fontbonne College, Lindenwood University, University of Missouri–St. Louis and Logan College of Chiropractic.
