A vibrant energy courses through Creve Coeur and Olivette, keeping residents and visitors active year round. Summers in the area are filled with outdoor fun and family entertainment. Creve Coeur Days is a celebration held each year in May and includes four days of games, live entertainment, midway rides and a parade. Olivette celebrates SummerFest each year in August with free live concerts, carnival rides and craft shows. Other events are planned throughout the rest of the year in celebration of holidays and local events.
Two contemporary state-of-the-art, stadium seating, cinema complexes are located at the western and eastern boundaries of Creve Coeur. West Olive Cine offers a 16-screen theatre, while Creve Coeur Cine has a 12-screen theatre.
For those who enjoy dining and gambling, Harrah’s Casino and Hotel is located a few minutes drive north. A popular entertainment arena, Harrah’s features two casinos. Just west of Creve Coeur lies Faust Park, where you will find hundreds of tropical butterflies flying free in the Butterfly House. Children and adults alike can ride on the circa 1920 Carousel and visit the working Historic Village.
To the south of Creve Coeur is Grant’s Farm, the Busch family estate once owned by Ulysses S. Grant, where train rides through the wildlife preserve, animal shows and a petting zoo are offered free of charge.
The entire St. Louis region is rich in cultural history. Located about 10 miles east of Olivette is the 1,293-acre Forest Park, home of the The Muny, America’s largest outdoor amphitheater that stages Broadway musicals under the stars. Forest Park is also home to the St. Louis Art Museum — the Fine Arts Palace of the 1904 World’s Fair, the St. Louis Science Center, The Jewel Box, Missouri History Museum and the St. Louis Zoo. St. Louis is also home to The Fox Theatre and the St. Louis Symphony.
Located in downtown St. Louis, the Gateway Arch is America’s tallest manmade monument, standing at 630 feet. Visitors can also enjoy a birds-eye view of the city by taking a tram ride to the top. A short walk from the Arch is the Old Courthouse, built in 1828.
