Medical Capital of St. Louis County

hospital

Creve Coeur is home to two of the region’s major medical facilities, St. John’s Mercy Medical Center and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, and serves as the medical capital of St. Louis County. Missouri Baptist Medical Center, SSM DePaul Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital are within a few minutes drive outside the city. Additionally, two premier medical research centers, Saint Louis University and Washington University, are within a 20-minute drive.

Area medical centers have demonstrated their commitment to the continued growth and investment in the local community. St. John’s Mercy Medical Center is in the midst of a seven-year, $500 million redevelopment of its 46-acre campus which includes the David C. Pratt Cancer Center that opened in 2003, the addition of two floors of all private rooms for maternity patients in 2004, and in summer 2006 a new $140 million Heart Hospital housing comprehensive cardiac services, a new emergency department with St. Louis County’s only Level I trauma center and dedicated pediatric emergency room.
