DeSoto is centrally located among several major routes of transportation linking it to major areas of commerce. It is located along the Union Pacific Railroad and 15 miles from the Mississippi River system which links almost 9,000 miles of inland waterways across the nation. The nearest airport is just 11 miles from DeSoto, located in Festus, and St. Louis International Airport is just an hour away. Studies have been conducted calling for another large airport in the future to be located just minutes outside of DeSoto. Interstate highways provide easy accessibility to the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Interstate 70 connects us to the east and west, and both Highway 21 and Interstate 55 connect us to the north-south routes. In addition, Interstate 44 provides a traffic flow from this region to the southwest. From an industrial perspective, DeSoto’s geographic location is ideal for new development, relocation and expansion.
