Manufacturers in DeSoto employ up to 200 and the retirement communities located in DeSoto together employ over 300. Both located within minutes of DeSoto, Jefferson College employs almost 1,000 individuals and Jefferson Memorial Hospital employs almost 2,000. Three grocery stores, Wal-Mart and the many other retail, service and industrial business of DeSoto create quite a large and diverse business community.
