graphicThe City has operated under the City Manager Form of Government since 1948. DeSoto is the only City in Jefferson County with this form of government and has experienced progressive, professional government services for over 50 years. The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the City. The position reports directly to the five-member City Council and is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations, supervision of all personnel, policymaking and operational recommendations to the City Council and preparation of the annual budget. Our fire departments are state-of-the-art. DeSoto is always interested in growth and improvement. The city participates in government grant programs to improve and develop the "City of Pride."
