Shopping in the area is diversified and abundant, with quaint boutiques and specialty shops, major department chains and professional businesses all located within Farmington. Top spots for shopping include Maple Valley Center, Highway 67, Karsch Boulevard and downtown Farmington, which stretches around East Liberty Street and West Columbia Street and encompasses many of the community’s original buildings. The businesses that line these corridors have aided in Farmington’s role as a regional shopping hub by providing a variety of products and services that draw in people from all over St. Francois County and its surrounding areas.
The Factory
The Factory is a 75-year-old former garment industry property that has been totally renovated and developed into a visitor destination in historic downtown Farmington. Located two blocks behind City Hall, it includes a 45,000-square-foot climate controlled indoor mall with over 60 specialty shops, artist and ballet studios, a café, a 1/6-mile carpeted walking track and a tourist information center.
Unique works of art, handmade crafts, fashion merchandise and antiques and collectibles attract guests to the mall level; studio suites for professional offices are featured on the main floor; and a Great Hall at Alexander’s on the upper level is the place for special events (receptions, meetings, proms, parties and more). Spanning one square block near Main Street, The Factory is ideally situated in one of the loveliest small towns in Missouri.
