Welcome to Maplewood, a community of charming neighborhoods, thriving businesses and friendly people. Incorporated in 1908, Maplewood's historic flavor is maintained through turn-of-the-century homes and a mainstreet-style business district complete with trees, sidewalks and renovated storefronts.

Maplewood is home to over 400 businesses ranging from small specialty retailers to international manufacturers. The quaint downtown shopping district is complemented by the modern, new 64-acre Sunnen Business Park. Restaurants and diners are sprinkled throughout the community, offering a wide variety of tastes and experiences. Antique shops, music stores and concert venues all add to the unique and diverse community atmosphere. Maplewood treasures its green space and has a number of parks for family enjoyment. Annual events in Maplewood include the Maple Days fair, the Sutton Avenue Block Party and a summer "Concerts in the Park" series.

While treasuring its history, Maplewood continues to build toward the future. In 2005 Maplewood will be connected to the Metrolink light rail system via two passenger stations. A strong residential and commercial base is allowing the construction of a new municipal water park, plus a track and field facility for the Maplewood-Richmond Heights school system.
