Cool Valley was incorporated in 1951. Long time residents will tell you its name came from the fact it is located in a valley and it was always about 10 degrees cooler than the ajoining cities because the cool air sinks to the lowest level.

Highway 70 runs East & West through the South of the city and the University of Missouri Campus is just South of the Highway. New Florissant Road is its major thoroughfare and its main business area fronts this road. Cool Valley occupies 0.48 of a square mile.
