Location and Transportation

Nestled within southeastern Missouri, just over one hour from the Missouri and Illinois border, the cities of Park Hills and Leadington are afforded an ideal Midwest location. The neighboring communities, part of St. Francois County’s Lead Belt (also recognized as the Mineral Area), are connected by MO Route 32. U.S. Route 67 runs along the eastern border of Park Hills, linking with Interstate 55 (approximately 30 miles east of the area) and providing a direct link to the city of St. Louis, positioned around 1.5 hours north of Park Hills and Leadington.

General aviation services are provided nearby at the Bismarck Memorial Airport and Farmington Regional Airport. For commercial airline services, travelers utilize Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Eighteen passenger carriers operate out of Lambert, as do several charter carriers and cargo carriers, offering excellent service to destinations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

General public transportation is afforded through the Southeast Missouri Transportation Service (SMTS), a non-profit organization operating in 20 Missouri counties, including St. Francois County. SMTS provides curb-to-curb passenger services (Monday-Friday), such as long-distance medical service, local service and custom services for groups and organizations.
