If industry is the measurement of a community’s growth, then Poplar Bluff is poised for a major growth spurt. Our industrial climate is considered the barometer for successful communities.
With several nationally known manufacturers such as Briggs & Stratton, Nordyne, Rowe Furniture and Gates Rubber Company, we have a very strong nucleus that provides more than 6,000 jobs to our area’s citizens. When you couple that with Mid Continent Nail, Starting USA and Technical Plastics, you have an industrial climate that produces quality products for our nation and provides the necessary jobs and community support for the Poplar Bluff area.
The mission of the industrial development arm of the Chamber of Commerce, Poplar Bluff Industries, is the recruitment and retention of industry for the area.
We strive to attract complementary industries as well as help existing industries increase productivity, maintain their employment base and act as a vehicle to assist them with concerns that may arise. We maintain a 200-acre industrial park in an Enterprise Zone and have access to another adjoining 200 acres that we will develop soon.
One of our partners, Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission, is located in our industrial park and offers an incubator building for new industries looking to locate in Poplar Bluff. These partnerships between our local engineers, community and government leaders and lending facilities have established us as the place to be when it comes to manufacturing.
Communities are able to grow when jobs and opportunities are available, and Poplar Bluff has both. We value our industrial leaders and strive to work with them in any way we can to help ensure their continued growth. At the same time we actively recruit industry to our area to continue to provide high-paying and rewarding employment.
