St. Robert was incorporated on October 1, 1951, and was chartered as a village with 500 residents. It has grown tremendously in the past few years and today is a Fourth Class City. The Pulaski County Sheriff's department covers 449 square miles and serves Waynesville and St. Robert citizens. As well as performing their regular duties, most of the deputies volunteer for extra departments such as the Sheriff's Department Crisis Action Team and the Sheriff's Department Dive Team, which assists in rescue and recovery in the area's three rivers. The Sheriff's Department is also responsible for the 911 Emergency Services Center, which provides radio communication to all the law enforcement agencies, fire departments and the ambulance district as well as telephone communication to the local citizens in the event of an emergency. Other law enforcement agencies include Troop I, Missouri State Highway Patrol, the St. Robert City Police Department and the Waynesville Police Department. All
fire departments in the county are manned by volunteer firefighters. The
St. Robert City Fire and Rescue boasts more than 30 volunteer firefighters.
Waynesville Rural Fire Protection has four stations located throughout
the area. Not only does the WRFPD serve Waynesville City, but all of the
outlying county areas around Waynesville and St. Robert. Both departments
constantly train to better fight fires. It is not unusual to see fire
departments from other counties pitching in to help out, or to see our
firefighters respond outside the county to render mutual aid. The Pulaski County Ambulance District covers more than 400 square miles and boasts a response time average of 6.81 minutes. The ambulance personnel transport patients to St. John's Breech, Phelps County Regional Hospital and Fort Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital. Pulaski County emergency personnel are always willing to work together in a variety of different jobs. Many of the people that comprise the firefighters, police, EMTs and 911 dispatchers are cross-trained and volunteer as firefighters, reserve deputies, EMTs, First Responders and Storm Spotters. The Waynesville/St. Robert area government workers are always willing to help out in order to ensure the safety of their citizens.
