A visit to Webster Groves promises you a day of shopping at its best! Nestled amongst Webster Grove’s parks, neighborhoods and churches are many small business districts. Old Webster, located at the original train station at Gore and Lockwood, was founded in 1858 and boasts extra-wide sidewalks and lovely landscaping.

Old Orchard, named after the orchards that once adorned the farms that stood before settlers journeyed from St. Louis, is also a popular and scenic place to shop. Browse through a number of diverse stores, satisfy your appetite at one of Old Orchard’s many appealing restaurants, or relax in the gazebo in the center of the park. Webster University, ideally located near Old Orchard, is famous for artist Bob Cassilly’s giant apple sculptures.

The recently renovated Yorkshire Shopping Center on Webster’s south side offers shoppers the finest choices in retail and customer services. Located at Watson and Laclede Station Roads, Yorkshire enjoys high visibility and dense traffic flows.

Shrewsbury is home to two fine shopping centers, both situated along historic Route 66. Visitors and residents take advantage of two large grocery stores, local and chain restaurants, gardening stores, gift shops, and a variety of other retail establishments.

Rock Hill, located along historic Highway 100 (Manchester Road), has recently built a new shopping center on the corner of Manchester and Rock Hill Roads. Rock Hill also provides residents in the area with video stores, delicatessens, a variety of delicious restaurants, and a number of family owned and operated businesses including hardware stores, camera shops, and hair salons.

Business is thriving in Webster Groves and its surrounding communities. Major employers in the area include the Webster Groves School District, Webster University, Reliable Life Insurance, Laclede Gas, Tenet Health, ISA Capital, Carrlaine Industries, Progressive Ink, Quebecoi Program/ Sayers Communication, Woodard Rug and Drapery, and Millman Lumber. Webster Groves is the proud home of the world headquarters of the St. Louis Bread Company.

Webster Grove’s close proximity to St. Louis and abundant resources make it the perfect place to run a business. Most of the 35 acres of prime property once occupied by Petrolite is open for redevelopment and perhaps rezoning once a suitable tenant or tenants are found. A very small portion is now occupied by Solutia scientists conducting research in the state-of-the-art laboratory; the remainder would be perfect for a technology center or business incubator.

The area’s largest employer is Webster University. The University is the crown jewel of Webster Groves and brings tremendous prestige, wealth, and growth to the entire St. Louis region. University professors, staff, and employees live and raise their children in the area and are an integral part of the community.

Several high quality, dependable medical centers cater to the healthcare needs of Webster Groves area residents. St. Joseph Hospital in Kirkwood provides a wide range of services and boasts the latest advances in medical technology. Other hospitals, all within close proximity of Webster Groves, include St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond Heights, St. John’s Hospital in Creve Coeur, and Barnes-Jewish in St. Louis. Younger residents are served by St. Louis Children's Hospital and Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital; both offer specialized pediatric care and are a short drive from our three communities.

The area is home to a number of specialty care physicians such as dentists, chiropractors, and optometrists. Many of these medical professionals are active members of the community; family dentist Dr. Michael White, for example, supports many local events and celebrations, and Dr. Joseph Lane at the Back and Neck Care Center helps to collect coats and gloves for needy kids. Their efforts are testimony of the pride and commitment that permeates the Chamber community.

Other medical services, available through private practices and/or HMO providers, include general practitioner care, OB/GYN, pediatrics, senior care, holistic healing, counseling, and massage therapy. Older adults may take advantage of Lutheran Senior Services Home Health, which provides medical care, transportation services, meal preparation, personal services such as "running errands," and housekeeping services for elderly residents. The Webster Groves Chamber Area has more than 30 houses of worship within its boundaries, representing a diverse range of denominations including Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, Baptist, First Congregational, Methodist, A.M.E., Presbyterian, and several smaller denominations. Residents also have access to a Christian Science Reading Room and the Baha’i Faith Information Center. There are several synagogues located nearby in the cities of Clayton and University City.

Like the other churches and religious affiliations in the Chamber area, the Webster Groves Baptist Church is an integral part of the community; they have been active participants in the Mayor’s Centennial Prayer Breakfast, provide summer camps for kids, sponsor an annual Easter Egg Hunt for children, and are one of the major sponsors of the annual Community Easter Sunrise Service.
