The areas largest employer is Webster University. The University is the crown jewel of Webster Groves and brings tremendous prestige, wealth, and growth to the entire St. Louis region. University professors, staff, and employees live and raise their children in the area and are an integral part of the community.
The area is home to a number of specialty care physicians such as dentists, chiropractors, and optometrists. Many of these medical professionals are active members of the community; family dentist Dr. Michael White, for example, supports many local events and celebrations, and Dr. Joseph Lane at the Back and Neck Care Center helps to collect coats and gloves for needy kids. Their efforts are testimony of the pride and commitment that permeates the Chamber community. Other medical services, available through private practices and/or HMO providers, include general practitioner care, OB/GYN, pediatrics, senior care, holistic healing, counseling, and massage therapy. Older adults may take advantage of Lutheran Senior Services Home Health, which provides medical care, transportation services, meal preparation, personal services such as "running errands," and housekeeping services for elderly residents. Lutheran Senior Services Home Health strives to help older adults live life to the fullest by providing the best physical, social, and Christian care in the area.
