Beatrice is proud to have an award-winning community theatre troupe in town. Since 1975, Community Players has striven to deliver the highest quality theatre to Beatrice and Southeast Nebraska.
The organization’s goal is to promote, encourage and increase the knowledge, appreciation and practice of live theatre in Southeast Nebraska. The troupe presents five to six high quality productions each season, hosts various special events and shares its versatile downtown space with the Beatrice Children’s Theatre. Another community point of pride is the state-of-the-art Hevelone Center for Performing Arts, located within Beatrice Senior High School. The facility regularly hosts various performing arts groups and high school productions.
The city also offers a calendar year of exciting events. As the county seat, Beatrice hosts the annual Gage County Fair in July — a countywide event full of first-class entertainment, carnival rides and games, food and a number of exhibits. Beatrice also presents the much-anticipated, communitywide Homestead Days, held the third weekend in June (Father’s Day weekend), and regularly scheduled events at the fast-paced Beatrice Speedway. Every Friday night during spring, summer and fall, fans pack the stands to enjoy some of the area’s finest racing action along the 3/8-mile track.
The Beatrice Public Library is a valuable asset providing a link to the past as the host facility for Nebraska State Genealogical Society collection.
