Lincoln Introduction

To the more than 250,000 people who live in the Lincoln area, there really is no place like home. And to the hundreds of thousands who come to visit, it feels like home thanks to the gracious Midwestern hospitality.

At a prime location in the heart of the nation, Lincoln is home to many national corporations including Kawasaki, State Farm Insurance and Duncan Aviation. The urban and the rural are united in Lincoln's extensive agribusiness industry based out of the University of Nebraska.

Local workers and visitors have access to a highly-efficient transportation system. Lincoln Municipal Airport, Star Tran's intercity bus service, daily Amtrak and Greyhound passenger service, and limousine and taxi cab companies make it convenient to enter and travel about the city. Lincoln's proximity to Interstate 80, a coast-to-coast highway, turns Chicago, Denver, Dallas and Minneapolis into one-day trips.

Lincoln features some of the most beautiful and historically significant homes in the state; and an exemplary education system that includes excellent colleges and universities.

An extensive trail system winds through scenic wooded parks and neighborhoods and dozens of state recreational areas and lakes present an abundance of summer activities. In the winter one will find families ice-skating on local ponds or sipping coffee in locally owned cafes. The rich history of the area lends itself to being home to numerous museums that proudly boast of Lincoln's past, as well as many cultural festivals and fairs. Shopping is plentiful throughout the city, from major shopping malls to small neighborhood boutiques and specialty shops.

Premier healthcare, places of worship for every religion and denomination, and cutting edge technology organizations have earned Lincoln a reputation for being a city that caters to all cultures and peoples.
