Norfolk Festivals

Smiles, laughter and a neighborly slap on the back … it must be time for a festival! Plan to attend:

April 2008: Comedy Festival. This festival is new to Norfolk and plans are to make this a two to three-day celebration of comedy.  Comics from around the local area, as well as across the nation, will be invited to compete in several categories of comedy, including standup and improve.

June: Ethnic Festival. A two-day event devoted to reveling in the diverse cultures that make up northeast Nebraska’s history. Don a costume and enjoy music, dancing, food, drink and arts that accompany this anticipated fiesta.

July: Big Bang Boom. A carnival day topped off with the areas biggest fireworks spectacular over Skyview Lake, set to a simulcast musical broadcast.

July: County Fair. Combined with the Mid-States Rodeo Association action, the County Fair features nightly dancing, country-western acts and fun-loving contests to engage the entire family.

July: Hot Summer Nites Car Show.  You will see hundreds of antique cars, muscle cars, trucks, motorcycles and more at this event. There are food vendors to keep you fueled up while attending and auto detailing specialist on site to put a little something extra on your hot rod.

September: The annual Lions Club presents “one of the longest parades in Nebraska.” This marching band competition draws spectators from throughout the state. City officials also use this big celebration time to honor outstanding citizens’ contributions to Norfolk.

October: Miss Nebraska USA. Norfolk is home to the Miss Nebraska USA and Miss Nebraska Teen USA Pageants. Young women from all over the state come to compete for the honor of representing Nebraska in the National Miss USA Pageant and Miss Teen USA Pageant.

November: Downtown Parade of Lights. Saturday evening following Thanksgiving Day presents the perfect time for the community to hold the Holiday of Lights Parade. This parade includes a visit from Santa and is complete with creative floats, beautifully lit against the night sky. Following the parade, attendees come together to witness the lighting of the donated community tree in downtown Norfolk.
