The elegance of the Hilton Omaha, Nebraska’s only AAA four-diamond hotel, and its skywalk to Qwest Center Omaha exemplify the comfort and convenience that await the city’s guests.

Of the more than 10,000 hotel and motel rooms, two-thirds are in Douglas County. Downtown hotels are within walking distance of Qwest Center Omaha, museums, restaurants, corporate offices, Omaha’s riverfront and the historic Old Market. Four new hotels will open soon in the North Downtown development: Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Homewood Suites and Fairfield Inn.

Other hotels are sprinkled throughout the metropolitan area – yet within a brief drive of all attractions.

Familiar names including Marriott, DoubleTree, Holiday Inn and Embassy Suites are here. So are unique places including the mountain resort setting of Regency Lodge, or the historic Cornerstone Mansion Inn in Midtown Omaha. Built in 1894, the inn’s seven rooms remain elegant yet updated to accommodate today’s business travelers with features like wireless Internet. The Magnolia Hotel downtown has undergone a $14 million renovation. Two casino hotels, Ameristar and Harrah’s, lie across the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Visitors with an urge to return to nature can stay year-round at three state parks within minutes of Omaha. Mahoney State Park – a neighbor of the Strategic Air and Space Museum and Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo Wildlife Safari park just south of Omaha along Interstate 80 – offers 40 guest lodge rooms and 51 modern housekeeping cabins with fireplaces and TVs. Platte River State Park has 52 cabins, while Two Rivers State Recreation Area is the only park in the nation to use adapted Union Pacific Railroad cabooses as cabins.

Dana Markel, executive director of the Omaha Convention & Visitors Bureau, says visitors spent more than $1 billion in Omaha last year. “Whether you visit for business, a convention or a weekend getaway,” she says, “Omaha is an exciting, energetic, revitalized city that will give you a truly unique set of experiences.”
