South Lake Tahoe is located 200 miles northeast of San Francisco and 60 miles southwest of Reno, Nevada. Residents and visitors typically utilize the Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO). It is serviced by 170 flights daily from most major airlines and is supported by 11 daily shuttles to the South Shore. Lake Tahoe Airport is a public use airport offering a single runway for private aircraft.
South Lake Tahoe is a recognized “Bicycle Friendly City,” and the entire South Shore is becoming ever increasingly easy to navigate without the use of an automobile. Many shuttle, cab, trolley and bus services are available in and out of the area in addition to bike paths winding through scenic and residential areas.

The standard BlueGo services include fixed bus routes as well as the seasonal ski shuttle and the Nifty Fifty Trolley services. An all day pass can be purchased for $3.00. BlueGo also provides premium services that shuttle riders from lodging properties to the casinos. Curb to curb rides can be scheduled between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. within the city limits, Christmas Valley, Upper Truckee neighborhoods and other portions of El Dorado County by calling the number above. The Nifty Fifty Trolley service operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day and provides a fun way to sightsee from Lakeside Inn at Stateline to Emerald Bay and DL Bliss State Park with stops in between and connections for the North Shore.
