• Turn down your water heater when you are away for a long period of time

• Turn off anything with a power button – computers, monitors, lights, stereos, televisions

• Unplug your cell phone charger when not charging your phone

Eat, Drink and buy local products

• Reduce your own carbon emissions by eliminating shipping costs for the products you buy

• Support your Tahoe neighbors to help sustain a viable local economy

• Be a conscientious consumer

Drink tap water

• Reduce your plastic consumption, not your water consumption

• Fill up your water bottle at the tap and enjoy some of the cleanest drinking water in the world

When staying in a hotel

• Turn off the lights and close the drapes when you leave to save energy

• Look for lodging properties that offer public transportation or that loan bicycles to guests

• Talk to the management about their environmental practices – use your voice to effectuate change!
