FACTS ABOUT CLAREMONT

• Claremont is a family community, offering safe streets, excellent public and parochial schools, and many strong youth sports programs.

• Many community efforts and events are made possible through a strong force of dedicated volunteers.

• Claremont’s high level of community spirit is evidenced by the greatest level of contributions ever raised in a New Hampshire community toward the Main Street Claremont revitalization program.

• The Stevens High School Alumni Association, with approximately 8,000 members, is the oldest active association of its kind in the United States.

• As one of the nation’s most intact nineteenth century districts, Claremont’s downtown was the first Multiple Use Resource District (Historic District) to be added to the National Register of Historic Places.

• Claremont is home to the oldest Roman Catholic and Episcopal churches in New Hampshire, Old St. Mary and Union Episcopal; both are still in use.

• A variety of ethnic cultures, prevalent in Claremont’s historical citizenry, continue today through several places of worship within the community.
