Education

Continuity and change are both hallmarks of education in Claremont. The public school buildings underwent a multi-million dollar renovation a few years ago, and while the buildings have changed, there is a reassuring stability in personnel. The over 350 devoted professionals that comprise the school district serve over 2,200 students. Stevens High School graduates in recent years have attended Dartmouth, Columbia and other prestigious institutions. Claremont also offers three private schools: St. Mary’s is more than 100 years old, while the Greater Claremont Christian School and Claremont Christian Academy are building their own traditions.

Higher education also flourishes in Claremont, which is home to two colleges. Both the New Hampshire Community Technical College and the College for Lifelong Learning offer a wide range of courses leading to Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees. Other alternatives for those seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees within a commutable distance include prestigious Dartmouth College to the north and Keene State College, part of the University of New Hampshire System, to the south; both are less than an hour’s drive away. graphic
