The McConnell Center is a multi-generational human service based community center, which provides an environment where health education or cultural/recreational agencies can interact and provide programming for the citizens of Dover. Dover Adult Learning Center of Strafford County is one of 18 nonprofits currently leasing space at McConnell. It is the adult literacy center for Strafford County and provides GED classes, English for speakers of other languages classes, and community education for residents throughout the county. Other organizations include Ageless Dreamer, the Dover Children’s Center, Dover Human Services, Dover Police Outreach, Dover Recreation Department, Dover Senior Programming, NH Easter Seals, The HUB Family Resource Center, Seacoast Hospice, Strafford County CAP, UNH Social Work Internships and Wentworth-Douglass Hospital’s Pete’s Place. Pete’s Place is a grief support organization for children who have suffered the loss of a loved one or friend and also provides group counseling at area schools for students who have lost a classmate.
