Dining
Hanover is a small town with big-city tastes. Whether your palate leans to Italian or Indian, Chinese or cheeseburger, pizza or pate, you can find it here. The cornerstone of dining in this college town is the venerable Hanover Inn with two restaurants overlooking the Dartmouth Green and outdoor seating in the summer. A few shops away is Lou’s Restaurant, a tradition since 1947 and a favorite breakfast gathering place for locals and visitors alike. For a touch of the north country, The Canoe Club offers bistro food and live music in an Adirondack setting while just outside of town Jesse’s serves steaks and seafood in a log cabin that calls to mind Alaska adventure.
For tastes from around the world sample the offerings of the Jewel of India, Margaritas Mexican, Mai Tai, the chef-owned Carpaccio Ristorante Italiano or Boloco’s “inspired” burritos. For something faster or more traditional, there’s Ramunto’s Brick and Brew Pizzeria, Quiznos Subs and the wonderfully named Everything But Anchovies family restaurant, famous for its chicken sandwiches. Cross the river into Norwich try the offerings of The Norwich Inn’s restaurant and brewery, or Carpenter and Main Restaurant, which offers fine French cuisine. If you are taking in a show, the Courtyard Café at the Hop in Dartmouth’s Hopkins Center for the Arts couldn’t be more convenient.
