Hanover is governed by a select board and a town manager. The five members of the select board are elected for staggered three-year terms on Town Meeting day, the second Tuesday in May. The select board, which is charged with implementing town meeting decisions, hires the town manager, who serves as the chief executive officer of the town. The town manager oversees Hanover’s daily operations and is the administrative head of all town departments. The town manager is responsible for hiring and town administrative services such as finance, accounting and revenue collection.
Norwich also has a five-person select board and town manager.
