Transportation

Perfectly situated in Central New Jersey, Edison Township is one of the few communities which can boast about being home to the Crossroads of New Jersey. With more than five major highways crisscrossing through the Township, Edison is easily accessible to the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike, Interstate Highway 287 and State Highway Route 1 and 27, to name only a few. Transportation along our great infrastructure allows people, goods and services to be easily moved from Edison to all surrounding areas. For rail travel, Edison Township offers two major train stations (Edison Train Station and the Metro Park Train Station in Woodbridge) accessing the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor Line. The Metuchen Train Station is a few minutes away. In addition, Edison offers easy access to the largest port on the East Coast: Port Elizabeth.

From two of the northeast’s most exciting cities (New York and Philadelphia), to the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore, Edison is just a short trip to some of the finest leisure and destination sites in the country. Just to mention a few: Six Flags Amusement Park, Atlantic City Casino, the Newark and New Brunswick downtowns, as well as the nearby New York entertainment. Let us not forget to brag about the sports and race complexes in close proximity to Edison, including the Meadowlands Sports Stadium.

Residents of Edison enjoy the ability to live in quiet suburban neighborhoods, yet having easy access to all the amenities of a large metropolitan area of New York and Philadelphia.
