Playgrounds, ball fields (including a Little League field), tennis courts, parks and even a municipal swimming pool are just a few of the recreational facilities available in Metuchen.
The Metuchen pool complex, equipped with a large snack bar and covered eating area, offers residents instructional swim classes and a wealth of social activities.
Founded in 1921, the Metuchen-Edison YMCA provides comprehensive health and fitness programs to all age groups. Offerings include a number of aquatics programs and exercise classes and modern exercise equipment.
The YMCA is recognized as a leader in the development of services for the elderly and physically challenged, and it is also acknowledged as one of the largest providers of childcare in the entire county.
In collaboration with the Borough of Metuchen, the YMCA offers a Teen Center as another alternative for youth to congregate. The facility offers the modern Senior Center as well, which features an arts and crafts room with a pottery kiln, a kitchen and eating area, social areas and an exam room for visiting physicians to offer blood pressure screenings and other health services.
