

Metuchen is fortunate to be home to a variety of schools devoted to fulfilling the educational needs of students from nursery school through graduate studies. With active involvement from parents, local businesses and the community, Metuchen’s educational programs strive to stimulate learning in a nurturing environment. More than 15 nursery schools and child care centers are located in Metuchen, each dedicated to readying students for lifelong learning.
The Metuchen School District provides the area with exemplary public education. The school district is comprised of Moss School (Board of Education Offices and Kindergarten Classes), Campbell Elementary School (grades 1-4), Edgar Middle School (grades 5-8) and the recently renovated Metuchen High School (grades 9-12). The district also offers adult education courses, which are all located at Edgar Middle School.

For an alternative to the public school route, Metuchen offers several private institutions, which include St. Joseph High School, St. Francis Cathedral School (grades K-8) and Metuchen Christian Academy (grades K-8).
Higher education is easily accessed through nearby Rutgers University (the State University of New Jersey). Being one of the nation’s oldest universities, Rutgers University has a campus situated close by in New Brunswick, as well as campuses in Newark and Camden. This exceptional public university offers 100 distinct bachelor’s, 100 master’s and 80 doctoral and professional degree programs.
Additionally, several community colleges and technical schools are located in the area.
