Recreation

Millburn-Short Hills offers exceptional recreational facilities and programs, including well-maintained parks and playing fields. Taylor Park features lush rose gardens, a pond, picnic tables, tennis courts, an athletic field, a playground and the Bauer Community Center. During the summer months, residents and visitors take pleasure in the Taylor Park Summer Concert Series. The Sunday evening series features live music to be enjoyed by the entire family.

The newly renovated Millburn Township Community Pool, located in Short Hills features a water slide, a wading pool for small children, a new bathhouse, changing rooms, a snack bar, a gazebo, shade trees and umbrellas. The pool offers swim lessons, and is home to a swim team. The Par 3 Golf Course and tennis courts are located adjacent to the pool. Resident permits are required for tennis, pool and golf course access.

The Millburn Recreation Department offers an extensive list of programs geared toward youth, adults and senior citizens. Youth activities are seasonal, including soccer, football, hockey, basketball, wrestling, softball, skiing and swimming. A town camp is sponsored during the summer months. In addition, Millburn-Short Hills is home to numerous playing fields (including Gero Park, Old Short Hills Park and Hobart Avenue Park), enabling a wide array of sports programs to take place.

Adults may register for programs that range from basketball to golf and tennis. Senior citizens may participate in fitness programs, social clubs, shuffleboard, golf and seasonal trips.

Community groups flourish within the town. There are many independent clubs and organizations, such as the Millburn-Short Hills Arts Association, Camera Club, the Rotary and Short Hills Garden Club, to name a few. The Beautification League is an organization responsible for the creation and maintenance of the many wonderful planters throughout the town. There are also a number of organizations dedicated to youth programs, such as The Millburn Municipal Alliance Committee for Drug Awareness (M-MAC), Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, Scholastic Boosters, Little League Baseball and Lacrosse Clubs.

In addition to township facilities, private pool and racquets clubs include The Short Hills Club, The Racquets Club and the Canoe Brook Country Club.
