Mountainside Hospital in Montclair is a JCAHO-accredited community teaching hospital dedicated to supplying only the best medical services to North Essex and its surrounding areas. Part of Merit Health Systems, the 365-bed hospital is a clinical affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and New Jersey Medical School, and is also a proud partner with The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Among the specialized care centers located within the hospital are the Cancer Center, Women’s Health Center, Chronic Renal Dialysis Center, Richard F. Harries Ambulatory Care Pavilion, Chest Pain Center, Wound Care Center and Congestive Heart Failure Center. The hospital is also equipped with a modern 17,000-square-foot Emergency Department, a weight-loss surgery program that is nationally recognized as a Center of Excellence and a highly rated orthopedic program.
North Essex County is also equipped with the state-of-the-art Essex County Hospital Center in Cedar Grove. This 180-bed, 154,000-square-foot replacement facility opened at the end of 2006, offering the latest in mental health treatment within a modern, compassionate environment.
Just down the road, in Livingston, is the extensive Saint Barnabas Medical Center, the state’s oldest and busiest hospital. The 597-bed facility has more than 1,500 dedicated physicians on staff and has been the recipient of a number prestigious awards and recognitions.
