Love theater? Orchestra? We’ve got all your arts needs covered.
Community Arts Projects (C.A.P.) has commissioned artists to paint several murals, erect multiple new sculptures, construct mosaics and other public art opportunities – you’ll find them up and down the island’s streets and on many buildings. Next time you’re biking along our streets, take some time to enjoy the gorgeous artwork all around. It’s there for you.
Centered on the island, making access easy to north and south end folks, the Ocean City Cultural Community Center contains four civic organizations and a bustling hub of activity all year long. The Ocean City Arts Center on the second floor offers year-round classes, 12 gallery exhibits, two juried shows, two themed shows and a list of artful events. The Ocean City Library occupies both floors and offers state-of-the-art library facilities. Memberships for residents and visitors are available.
Spotted throughout the city are galleries and musical organizations that enrich Ocean City’s cultural identity – and it’s not all seascapes and lighthouses. Ocean City has opportunities to see and hear artists who broaden and lift our experiences, and surprise us with originality and edge.
Classes held in the outdoors (plein air) are a regular occurrence.
Local artists have found homes for their works offered for sale at the Ocean City Fine Arts League on Asbury Avenue. The Fine Arts League also offers a weekly drawing class.
Art can be found everywhere in this beach town, even on the beach itself. Sand sculpting contests are held during the summer and are a great way to see the beach alive with castles, whales, mermaids and other imaginative sculptures.
Life in a beach town includes art and inspiration all day long. There is something for everyone to enjoy here. Relax in fun and creativity, and then come back and do it again.
