Somerset County offers a wealth of year-round cultural opportunities to suit all interests and ages.

The Somerset County Vocational Technical School Theatre offers a beautiful 600-seat theater for concerts, dances and other performances. The Somerset Art Association is located in a historic red brick schoolhouse in Bedminster. Its Johnson Gallery presents seven rotating exhibitions annually. The art school provides 90 classes quarterly for children, teenagers and adults of all ages. Other offerings include the guest lecture series, art workshops, field trips to area museums and various cultural events. The 984-seat Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in North Branch presents quality performances from around the world, with emphasis on offerings for children and families. Each season, the Nash Theatre presents the Major Artists Series, School-Time Performances for teachers and their students, the Sunday Sampler Series for children (ages 4 and up), and The Family Series for children (ages 8 and up). The Villagers Barn Theatre in Hillsborough presents five live shows in its year-round, 217-seat theatre, plus another six performances in its 100-seat “black box” theatre. During the summer months, there are many free outdoor musical performances at various parks including Duke Island Park on Sundays 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Somerville’s Friday Night Music Concerts on the Municipal Lawn starting at 7:00 p.m.; and summer performances in Basking Ridge.
