Many houses of worship call the three communities of Summit, New Providence, and Berkeley Heights home. If you draw the circle a bit wider to include the nearby surrounding towns, every religious denomination can be found.
All of the religious institutions are integral parts of our communities. Several offer day care and nursery school programs, others house local non-profit organizations in their buildings, and some host teen “night clubs” on Friday evenings to provide area youth with a safe place to “hang out” with their friends. A few of the area churches operate affiliated schools, one for grades pre-K and Kindergarten (St. Teresa of Avila in Summit), and another for grades K-8 (Our Lady of Peace in New Providence). Our Lady of Peace also sponsors a big Fair each spring that draws widely.
