Uniquely Union
The Township of Union is a singular blend of rich Colonial American history, contemporary suburban culture, residential and business harmony, recreational and education opportunities, and small-town charm… all nestled within one of the nation’s most sophisticated metropolitan areas.
The Township of Union, located in Union County, is home to over 55,000 residents. The Township enjoys an exceptional location within the state. It is a mere 30 minutes from New York City, 10 minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport and 15 minutes from Newark Penn Station/Amtrak. In addition, Union’s first passenger railroad station opened in April 2003. The Township has a convenient location to many entertainment and recreational venues. It is only two hours from Atlantic City, less than an hour to the Jersey shore, 20 minutes to the Meadowlands complex, and just one hour to the idyllic Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania.
Union celebrates the diverse collection of cultures and backgrounds that comprise its residents. The community is home to 27 houses of worship, as well as ethnic parades, festivals and holiday celebrations that take place throughout the year. Community spirit made it possible for Union Township to win the distinguished All-America City designation.
Union offers a convenient downtown shopping area in the Union Center Special Improvement District. The bustling Route 22 commercial corridor, one of the busiest in the state, also complements the downtown shopping area.
The township boasts an unparalleled selection of housing, ranging from traditional colonials and quaint cottages to contemporary single-family dwellings, townhouses, condominiums and senior citizen complexes. Residents benefit from a highly regarded public school system and from a number of parks and athletic field facilities that are second to none in the entire state. Union is also the host municipality to one of only nine New Jersey state universities.
The people of Union are proud to live in a community they like to call, “Uniquely Union!”
