Warren County, New Jersey is a scenic parcel of approximately 365 square miles of land that is divided into 22 municipalities, with the town of Belvidere designated as the county seat. The county is nestled in an ideal location, just under an hour east of Pennsylvania's Pocono region, approximately one hour west of Manhattan, and one and one-half hours north of Philadelphia. Warren County was established in 1825, when the NJ Legislature separated the area from Sussex County, its neighbor to the North. Warren County was named in honor of Dr. Joseph Warren, a revolutionary cause devotee who earned a heroic reputation across the colonies. Warren was killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill, and although he never resided here, his memory was honored with the naming of Warren County. A part of the Skylands Region, Warren County offers a wealth of advantages to residents and businesses alike. Steeped in rich history, Warren County has deep roots in the transportation industry in particular, as home to the Morris Canal, various railroad lines through the years, and a strong carriage industry in the late 1800's/early 1900's. The 2000 Census lists the total population of Warren County at 102,437 - up 11.8% from the 1990 Census figures. The county's reasonable cost of living, strong labor force, rural beauty and abundance of resources make it attractive to all who live, work and visit here.
