There
is a Commitment to Education…
The educational needs of a growing population must be met with more, and
better, schools, which is why Warren County’s educational institutions
are growing to meet the needs of the community.
The county’s six public and two private high schools, and the 34
public and private elementary and kindergartens throughout the county
provide a solid educational basis for students, with at least one school
in every municipality except for sparsely populated Hardwick. Because
Warren County is comprised of many small towns, the public high schools
are either regional or accept students on a tuition basis from neighboring
municipalities. Belvidere, Phillipsburg, Hackettstown, Warren Hills Regional
and North Warren Regional are the public high schools; Warren Hills alone
receives students from five different towns. Warren Technical School offers
an array of basic education and vocational training, and, true to Warren
County’s agricultural history, Warren Tech is the only school of
its kind in the state to offer an Agriculture emphasis. There are also
two private high schools, Blair Academy in Blairstown and Good Shepherd
Christian Academy in Washington Township.
Among the newest community colleges in the state, Warren County Community
College has seen record growth in the last two years, as its course offerings
and articulation agreements with four-year colleges both increase. WCCC
and Warren Technical also co-sponsor The Center for Career and Personal
Development, a career training and adult education institution that offers
an array of educational options, including the region’s only nurse
education program.
The only four-year college in the county is Centenary College, founded
in 1867 as a girls-only school. Long since co-educational, with numerous
baccalaureate and graduate programs available, Centenary’s growth
is also a reflection of the community’s growth, as a current campus
expansion and student population explosion have made Centenary an ever
more prominent fixture on Warren County’s landscape.
