Located at the base of the beautiful Sacramento Mountains, Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC) is a 99-bed, acute care, JCAHO-accredited medical facility that has served the citizens of Otero County and surrounding communities since December 1948. Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center recently celebrated five years in their newly built facility located on North Scenic. There have been two multi-million dollar additions to expand this new facility since its opening in December 1999. GCRMC is one of the top civilian employers in Otero County with 575 employees.

Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center is proud to offer extensive medical services to the community with state-of-the-art technology — including the recent addition of the new mobile Cardiac Catheterization Lab. GCRMC recently completed the second phase of the Electronic Medical Record, Computerized Physician Order Entry. This second phase moves GCRMC to the forefront in electronic development that few hospitals in the country have reached. The Electronic Medical Record promotes confidentiality, patient safety and improved efficiency for patient care providers. It allows the physician access to the patient record throughout the hospital and in the physician's office. The hospital's new Histology Lab is scheduled to open in September 2005.
