Education
Lovington has an excellent school system that serves 2,500 students. The Lovington Municipal School District has four elementary schools, a middle school, a junior high school, a high school and an alternative high school.
Lovington Schools emphasize a strong academic program and strong extracurricular programs. Its sports teams, bands, choirs and other groups regularly rank among the top in the state.
Lovington’s higher education needs are served by New Mexico Junior College (a two-year community college) and University of the Southwest, a four-year liberal arts college. Both schools are about 17 miles away, and are accredited by the North Central Association.
