
Nestled in the foothills, next to the Gila National Forest, and embraced by the Continental Divide, Grant County is known for its “four gentle seasons,” which often can occur within a day.
With over 38,000 square miles, Grant County’s elevations vary from below 4,200 feet above sea level to just under 11,000 feet. The semi-arid environment crosses two ecological zones – offering Chihuahuan Desert to Alpine topographic community settings.
The majority of annual moisture comes with the summer afternoon monsoons, creating a cool cleansing to the dry heat. Mild snowfalls in winter usually melt away by mid-morning.
Historic adobe, gracious Victorians, sprawling ranches and modern Southwest architecture are found throughout the area. The diverse culture, heritage values and lifestyles of Grant County have helped to establish distinctive communities and neighborhoods, each with its own unique qualities.
