The Emergency Room operates 24 hours a day and is fully staffed by specially trained emergency medicine physicians and personnel. Licensed emergency medical technicians and paramedic teams staff the ambulance service, while ACLS-certified nurses staff the Special Care Unit. These services are supported by a partnership with Southwest MedEvac, a service that transports patients by helicopter if needed.

The Gila Regional Rehabilitation Center is located in a separate 6,000-square-foot facility, which includes three heated pools. Offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and wound care, the Rehabilitation Center also houses the Billy Casper Wellness Center, which has over 3,000 members.

Laboratory and radiology departments provide patients with around-the-clock assistance with well-equipped departments and a full staff, as does the Cardiopulmonary Services Department. Pharmacists are available on an on-call basis after normal hours of operation.

For compassionate cancer care close to home, the Gila Regional Cancer Center receives more than 500 patient visits per month in its new home-like chemotherapy treatment suite. Radiation therapy is available and the Cancer Center maintains a staff of four medical oncologists from Albuquerque.

Skilled nurses, home health aides and homemaker services are all available through Home Care Services, which also has a highly respected hospice program and bereavement services.

Gila Regional continues to focus on community and outreach efforts, along with specific hospital-related activities. The Desert Sage program, the hospitals 50-and-over membership program, continues to provide both social and health-related activities. GRMC Auxiliary boasts over 250 members and a Foundation Board, which fundraises for the hospital’s various projects. The hospital’s award-winning First Born Program provides weekly visits for first-time parents.
