While Silver City was founded in 1870, the surrounding area has been inhabited for more than 11,000 years. This could possibly explain Grant County’s undefined “feeling of home” as described by first-time visitors and locals alike. Striving to maintain this compassionate atmosphere, the Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce has been servicing the community for more than 103 years. The Chamber was established in 1905 and has subsequently traveled alongside the business community while trekking through the highs and lows of what could be called “the struggles of western commerce.”

Being located in what is namely defined as a rural community in southwestern New Mexico, those who seek shall still find. Meaning, regardless of what your specific interests may be, we can almost guarantee an expert resides here. Be it rock hounding, film, music, art, ranching, culture, industry, commerce, history, etc., individuals from all walks of life graciously call Grant County home.

So please take a moment to indulge yourself while you peruse through our community guide. Along with lodging, retirement, relocation, education, entertainment and community service organizations, you will find information on the cities and businesses within Grant County, as well as local tourist locations such as The Gila Cliff Dwellings, City of Rocks State Park, The Catwalk, Fort Bayard and much more.
