A Life of Quality
Simply put, Canandaigua is a great place to live. The lake, the magnificent views, the lush farmland, the historic downtown, the tended neighborhoods, the proud public buildings all count for a lot. But these are just the visual attractions; there’s so much more that’s not quite as obvious.
Housing variety is unlimited: from handyman specials to magazine mansions and everything in between. Houses old and new are close to shopping, schools and government. Our municipalities are justly proud of their range of services. Our children go to some of the best schools in the state. Our communities grow and improve, with Ontario County bucking the trend toward shrinking economies and population, resulting in more and more varied jobs. Still rural and small town in nature, we are just minutes from the Thruway, and linked to each other and the rest of the state by a network of well-maintained roads. With a growing artistic community, Canandaigua is blessed with fine music and visual art and countless opportunities to experience both.
Local shopping is abundant and varied: retail from local specialty stores to “big box” discount stores; quaint shops with local personality to franchises and nationally-known stores. Service businesses are built on good old-fashioned commitment to service!
Several apparent trends in Canandaigua testify to the high quality of life in Canandaigua: fewer natives are retiring to the warmer south. When locals move, they often move within Canandaigua. And, more and more retirees are moving to Canandaigua because it’s where they “always wanted to live.”
