Government
The Town of Canandaigua and the City of Canandaigua are two separate political entities. The Town is governed by a Town Board, made up of the Town Supervisor and five Board Members, who are elected every four years. The Town Supervisor also represents the Town on the County Board of Supervisors.
The City of Canandaigua, with its Council-Manager form of government, is made up of a Mayor and eight Council Members, who are elected every two years. The City Manager, appointed by the City Council, is responsible for administering the day-to-day operations of the City government, and provides support to the City Council.
The Canandaigua Town and City governments work hand-in-hand to meet the civic needs of all residents and businesses in the area.
