Healthcare

A comprehensive range of high quality traditional medical services are right here in Canandaigua, for area residents, for veterans, and notably for seniors…coupled with a growing number of forward-looking complementary medical services not often found in other communities.

One of the cornerstones of Canandaigua’s healthcare is Thompson Health, an assemblage of hospital, medical facilities and staff, all the legacy of Canandaigua benefactress Mary Clark Thompson, whose generosity led to our first area hospital one hundred years ago. With broad and generous community and private support, Thompson Health has grown to accommodate 113 acute care beds, along with new and greatly expanded emergency room and cancer care center. They recently added a Body Mind Center, with many complementary modalities including chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage, and other opportunities for patient care and comfort.

For more than 60 years, the Canandaigua VA Medical Center has offered some of the most highly-rated inpatient and outpatient medical care for our veterans in the entire VA Hospital system. The facility has been designated recently as one of three VA “Centers of Excellence” in the country. The Canandaigua community is justly proud of this fine facility and of its commitment to care for those who served our country.

Area residents and visitors benefit from a multitude of additional medical services such as in-flight emergency air transport for trauma victims, eye care, orthopedics, hearing care and dental services, along with assisted living and medical services for our senior population.

Just as Canandaigua draws and keeps its residents, it has also been successful in drawing and keeping a wide range of health care providers, highly dedicated to patient care and to the community.
