graphicCortland County students receive a thorough and comprehensive education. Countywide enrollment, grades K-12, is over 8,900. There are public school systems in Cincinnatus, Homer, Marathon, McGraw and the City of Cortland. The BOCES Vocational Training Center is available to students who seek an alternative educational setting.

The State University of New York College at Cortland enrolls approximately 6,700 students, and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the arts and sciences and in professional studies.

There are 44 private and state colleges within the region with a combined enrollment of over 215,000 students. Another 26,000 students attend Cornell University and Ithaca College. This high concentration of colleges creates an abundant source of new, well-educated labor in the region.
