This scenic, rural county, located in central New York State at the gateway to the beautiful Finger Lakes Region, offers a wealth of advantages to new residents and businesses alike. Established in 1808, the county was named for New York’s first Lieutenant Governor, General Pierre Van Cortlandt.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Cortland County has experienced continuous growth since 1940. Today the estimated 1998 population is 48,033 with a projection for 57,717 in 2010.
