Site of the first significant American military victory during the Revolutionary War, the Battle of Saratoga ranks among the fifteen most decisive battles in world history. Saratoga National Historical Park was authorized by Congress in 1938, and now comprises three separate units: the four-square mile "Battlefield" in Stillwater, the General Philip Schuyler House (eight miles north in Schuylerville) and the Saratoga Monument in the nearby village of Victory.

Saratoga Performing Arts Center is the summer home of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York City Ballet. Contemporary artists frequent the stage, ranging from the popular group Phish to Neil Diamond to an annual jazz festival in late June. The National Museum of Dance, the National Racing Museum and the National Bottle Museum are just a few of the plethora of attractions offered in the area.
