contentsSleepy Hollow Tarrytown NY Chamberads

Business continues to expand in Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown as new development can be seen along the riverfront and in the central business districts. Companies of all shapes and sizes find the area quite appealing, thanks to its strategic location just 25 miles from New York City, its integrated transportation network and excellent business incentives on the local, state and national level.

The area is also fortunate to have the support of village government and such organizations as the Sleepy Hollow Tarrytown Chamber of Commerce that work diligently to strengthen the local economy and the community as a whole.

Agriculture was very prominent during the area’s earliest days, eventually giving way to a rich industrial and manufacturing presence. Today, Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown host an eclectic array of businesses, from locally owned shops to larger, well-known national and international companies. Tourism also aids greatly in the local economy, drawing in visitors from all over the world who enjoy touring the many historic landmarks of the “real” Sleepy Hollow.

While the local economy has diversified, agriculture does remain a tradition, thanks to the establishment of the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture. This nonprofit, 80-acre farm and education center has dedicated itself to increasing public awareness of community-based food production and training farmers in 21st century farming techniques. The Stone Barns is open year-round, offering a calendar year full of programs, lectures, classes and more. Visit to learn more on this unique local initiative.
