The beautiful lands of the Tri-State communities give us places where we can fish, play, hike, bike, explore or just relax. The Delaware and Neversink Rivers, carved out of the Catskill and Pocono Mountains, provide exciting river experiences. The Delaware River is noted for its exciting rafting trips. Located in this area are nesting areas for American eagles.

There are many local ponds and lakes such as Lake Wallenpaupack in PA, the Rio Dam in NY, the Basherkill and Beaverkill wetlands. The Delaware and Neversink Rivers carved out of the Catskill and Pocono Mountains provide exciting rafting trips or relaxation.

High Point State Park in Montague, NJ is part of the historic Appalachian Trail and is the highest point in the state of New Jersey. Swimming is enjoyed at West End Beach and Riverside Park in Port Jervis.

The area is spotted with many golf courses, which include Eddy Farm, the Port Jervis Country Club, Rockview Public Golf Club, High Point Country Club, Cliff Park Inn Golf Course and Woodloch Pines.

Winter recreational activities include skiing and snowmobiling at facilities such as Vernon Valley/Great Gorge Resort, with 53 trails and 17 lifts in Vernon, NJ. It is only minutes from Port Jervis.

One of the greatest attractions of this area is the time of the changing colors of the leaves. Travelers find the impressive views of mountains and valleys changing colors from day to day to be the surprise of a lifetime. Be it spring, summer, winter or fall, there are activities for all.

The Tri-State area is known for its first-rate schools, which are expanding every year to accommodate the new students moving into the area. The area schools include: Port Jervis City School District, Delaware Valley School District, Minisink Valley Central School District and Montague Township School District. These schools have a long history of providing outstanding educational environments for their students.

Adult education is especially prominent, and is responsible for producing a well-trained workforce for which the area is known. There are many higher education facilities in the region, including the famed United States Military Academy at West Point. Colleges offering a two-year degree program are Orange County Community College in Middletown, which has an off-site campus at Port Jervis and Sussex County Community College in Newton, NJ. The area also has several colleges that offer four-year and master"s degree programs. Vocational and trade schools are in close proximity to Port Jervis.
